Community Incorporation for Disabled Persons

Missouri seems to be falling behind the times for community inclusion of our disabled populace….At least that’s what it looks like from a Twitter account diagram of Michigan’s movement toward inclusion and closing of institutions for housing the Disabled and Mentally Ill……Hum…….something else for Missouri to work on?   When I tried to let adult daughter live on her own, State TOOK her, and took Guardianship of her, and control of her home and made it into a “GROUP HOME”, and moved a housemate in.

Trying for INDEPENDENCE

Disabled  adults deserve to be allowed to be as independent as  they can achieve….but in Missouri, it became a legal issue when husband became disabled and I couldn’t be there for disabled daughter…..and State Dept. Family Services TOOK Daughter…even though I had asked service agency for more assistance hours for her. Lawyer told me State was trying to claim NEGLIGENCE against me….but I HAD ASKED FOR HELP for daughter, so State couldn’t claim that.     In court,  State DFS said they started their investigation BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE DAUGHTER TO A DOCTOR that DAUGHTER CHOOSE to NOT RETURN TO after one  visit.   She did not like him…..so, I ask you….is allowing her the right to choose her doctor breaking any laws?   GUESS not, because Court has accepted a Doctor that Daughter will go to.   Now, we just Pray that Doctor will accept Daughter as a new patient!   And WHO decides if a person goes to a doctor or not, anyway?  Do we no longer have “FREEDOM OF CHOICE”……hum….  Anyone have a current copy of the BILL OF RIGHTS that I can give to the State DFS Agency?

Bill of Rights

Freedom was taught to me to mean free to do things, so long as we did not infringe on the rights of others….but the bill or rights, as I understand, GUARANTEES American Citizens such things as… ” right to feel secure in their own home……..right to private conversation….right to choose own medical care, doctors, etc…..” These are just a few “rights” that can apparently be taken away from our citizens, as has happened to my daughter, through use of bad laws, in my opinion, in the State of Missouri. It really sounds unsettlingly like the Gestapo, from Germany, back in the World Wars, and days of Hitler. If anyone has had similar adverse occurrances to their loved ones, I’d love to hear from you. On behalf of all the “unfree persons” in our country who are unjustly being restricted and/or detained by our local governments, I feel we need to unite….to change the bad laws, and help guarantee our constitutional rights.
